Hannah Roberts

Hannah Roberts, DMA, serves as Instructor of Piano at the University of Alabama, where she teaches applied piano, piano pedagogy, piano ensemble, and music appreciation. As a prizewinner in multiple competitions, her playing has earned her opportunities to perform both throughout the United States and internationally (Austria). Performance recognitions include first-place awards in the ENKOR International Music Competition, MTNA Oklahoma Young Artist Competition,Oklahoma Music Teachers Association Competition, Music International Grand Prix, Oklahoma Community Orchestra Competition, and University of Oklahoma Concerto Competition, as well as awards in multiple other regional and international competitions. In addition to her collegiate teaching, she currently maintains a pre-collegiate piano studio through the University of Alabama Community Music School. Prior to her appointment at the University of Alabama, she taught group and applied piano as a teaching assistant at the University of Oklahoma.

In demand as a clinician and adjudicator, Dr. Roberts regularly presents pedagogy workshops and lecture-recitals and has shared her research at the MTNA National Conference, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, the MTNA Collegiate Chapters Symposium, the National Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy Forum (GP3), and regional conferences of the College Music Society. Her current research focuses on studying and performing the works of forgotten American female composers. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of South Alabama.
